Lost Boy - Haiti Production Stills

2 weeks ago I travelled to Mirebalais, Haiti with our friends from Daylight Breaks as a Co-Director/Shooter on their upcoming doco "The Lost Boy - Journey of the Haitian Footsoldier". What a place! We were following the story of Haitian/Australian, Jonas Rasmussen, as he reconnected with his Haitian culture and family having been removed at the age of 6 through adoption. It was a wonderful fortnight with lots of challenges, but we came away with some awesome looking footage and some really engaging content. Sunset over Mirebalais

Often one of the nicest things to do on a shoot is have the opportunity to take time out to shoot a sunrise/sunset. This day didn't disappoint.

Sunrise

Every morning Jonas takes the time to brush his teeth and watch the sun come up behind his mother's house. A distant childhood memory relived as a daily ritual.

The infamous weeing horse

There's nothing like having your beautiful morning mist shots ruined by the gushing faucet that is a urinating horse. 

Hide and no seek

Back when the French invaded, Soso's ancestors built this brilliant hide out into the top of one of Mirebalais' mountains to avoid detection and imminent gunfire.

The horse wrangler

Not much else to say here, except this man also joined the "let's ruin Scott's shot" club by urinating too. Good times!
